First in China! Dongfeng Pure Electric SUV Challenged the Fiery Journey

Dongfeng Forthing’s pure electric vehicle Friday has successfully completed its first public challenge in China – the TOP Grade Friday Armored Battery “Driving by Electricity Through Fire Road” safety test. Friday has become the most powerful contender for the “Golden Glove Award” in the battery safety testing industry.

After experiencing the triple test of low temperature, high pressure flushing, and over 1000 degrees of intense fire, Friday finally obtained the “Extreme Electric Safety Star” honor certification issued by the China Automotive Center, which verified its ultra safe strength through more intuitive and powerful testing methods to create a safer and more reliable travel experience guarantee.

In order to test the heat resistance of the battery in high temperature environments, Dongfeng Forthing Friday, equipped with armored batteries, successfully traversed a 200- meter long flame road for 140 seconds at an average speed of 4km/h. The temperature of the vehicle chassis contact panel reached as high as 900 ℃. The results showed that the vehicle did not appear thermal runaway, and the vehicle was in good condition and running function was normal. Compared with the national standard that the battery pack was directly burned for 70 seconds, Friday had a safety test of 140 seconds at the vehicle level, which contributed new reference value to the inspection of battery safety technology.

Friday’s armor battery has also undergone dual tests of low temperature and high pressure flushing, further demonstrating the defensive strength of battery safety. In the low-temperature test, simulate the cold winter temperature conditions in the north, and place the armor battery in a low-temperature environment of minus 40 ℃. After 8 hours, transfer the armor battery to a professional high-pressure flushing laboratory. Use a high-pressure water gun with a water temperature of 80 ℃ and a pressure of 8000-10000kPa to continuously spray the armor battery in all directions.

After two consecutive tests, it was found that there was no water leakage in the battery compartment of the armored battery, and the battery pack had no short circuit, fire, or explosion throughout the entire process. When the armor battery is reinstalled in the car, it can still start and drive normally. It is worth mentioning that the water pressure intensity of this challenge is equivalent to 54 adults stepping on armored batteries at the same time, indicating the battery strength.

The dual strength of “frost resistance” and “waterproof” has been fully certified. In the face of  ice in winter and rainstorm in summer, car owners in the north and south no longer need to worry about battery safety when traveling.
